Castle Forbes
The Castle Forbes brand was started by Lady Jinny Forbes of the Forbes Clan of Scotland in 1996 with her friend Andrew French, a professional fragrance creator. Castle Forbes in Aberdeenshire is the seat of the Forbes Clan and was completed in 1815 by James Ochanar, the 17th Lord Forbes. Today, the 23rd Lord Forbes, Malcom, lives in the castle with Jinny who converted a dairy building at the back of the estate into a perfumery. All of its products continue be produced on the estate and have grown to include a full line of shaving creams, aftershave balms, and EDPs. The brand is reknown for its unique fragrances made from essential oils and high performing soft shaving creams.
Scent Description
1445 is fresh and aromatic fragrance which shares much in common with a classic Fougère, although slightly less green due to the absence of Oakmoss. In addition to the classic Fougère elements of Lemon, Lavender, and Coumarin, the use of Tarragon adds a uniquely herbaceous dimension which is further deepened by the subtle bitterness of Petitgrain, then mellowed by the lusciousness of Clove in the base. The overall effect is a complex, somewhat atypical scent, which is slightly daring but smacks of sophistication. The perfect scent for a distinguished gentleman who exhibits taste and panache, which can be worn day or night, in any setting.

Base Description
The Castle Forbes base is somewhat unique in that it is a true cream similar to Taylor of Old Bond Street. Despite being a cream, only a small brush load produces a voluminous and well structured lather with high density, excellent stability, good slickness, and strong cushion. A vegan base built primarily on Stearic Acid, Myrstic Acid, and Coconunt Acid, it includes Glycerin and Aloe Vera which add slickness and lusciousness, and also includes a few synthetic ingredients such as Potassium Sorbate, a preservative, Triethanolamine, an emulsifier, and Diproprylene Glycol, a solvent. Although not an all-natural formula, the lather it produces feels rich and luxurious, with a soothing and well-moisturized post-shave feel.
