Ariana & Evans
Founded in 2017 in Ansonia Connecticut, Ariana & Evans is the passion project and brain child of Peter Charkalis whose name is the amalgamation of Peter and his daughter's middle names. Peter is an ecclectic and worldly designer who embraces the ideaology of Kaizen, which in Japanese means "constant improvement". His fragrances are bold, sophisticated, whimsical, non-traditional, and heavily influenced by global culture and cuisine, with notable scents including Baklava, Plum & Bliss, Chasing the Dragon, and Khalifa. In 2024, the brand launched a new line, Maullu, a collaboration with internationally acclaimed Italian barber Daniele Maullu which focuses on premium ingredients.
Scent Description
Although many tobacco-vanilla fragrances have been popular throughout the 20th century, including Caron Tabac Blond in 1919 and Guerlain Habit Rouge in 1965, the scent which has come to define the genre is Tom Ford's Tabacco Vanille from 2007, famous for its warm, spicy, and slightly gourmand characteristics. Yet even with such venerable predecessors, Ariana & Evan's The Novelist makes a strong contribution by introducing orange blossom, iris, and juniper to the mix which adds a juicy sweetness, further amplifying the vanilla and adding an air of whimsy which is both youthful and modern. For a fresh take on a time-tested classic, The Novelist is a succulent and loamy fragrance which is warm, comforting, and masculine. Although, it can be worn in almost any setting, its strength and sultriness might be assertive for a work setting.

Base Description
The Ultima soap base has many excellent properties, particularly its high density and strong stability. Slickness is more than adequate, but unlike the K2e base which ShaveSplash characterizes as "yogurty", which is defined by an ultra-wet, dense, and smooth lather, the Ultima base has more structure and volume and falls under the category of "puffy". Although different from K2e, and its predecessor, the Ultima base has excellent cushion, offering good protetion, and making for an excellent shave.
