Clubman Musk
Clubman Pinaud
The Pinaud brand was started by Edouard Pinaud, a French perfumer, who opened a small shop in Paris specialzing in fine fragrances, hair tonics, and grooming products in 1830. The fragrances grew in popularity and in the 1850s Pinaud began suppling perfumes to the royal court of Napolean III. After Pinaud's death in 1868, the company went through multiple ownership changes until it was taken over by Roger Goldet In the 1930s, who split the company into French and American affiliates. It was under Goldet that in the 1940s the American affiliate launched the Clubman line of talc and aftershave which quickly gained popularity and became staples of American barbershops in the 1950s. In 1986, the Clubman line was acquired by American International Industries (AII) and expanded to shaving cream, hair care, body powder, and beard products, while Pinaud remains an independent Perfumery in Paris.

Scent Description
Some describe Clubman Musk as a toned down version of the original Clubman. Many of the notes are the same with slightly more emphasis on geranium, lavender and vanilla, giving it a sweeter and more floral tone. A lower concentration of oakmoss makes it less mossy, but as the name says, musk rises to take its place. An interesting variation on a theme, which might have too much projection for some, but just as with the original remains vintage gentleman.
