Blue Mediterranean

Episolon was founded in Spain in 1940 by the grandfather of the current CEO, Juan Jose Julian. The company was passed down from Grandfather, to father, and now Juan Jose, who has expanded the company's offerings to include shaving and hair products. Their most famous fragrance is Blue Mediterranean, a classic Chypre worn by men worldwide.

Scent Description
Blue Mediterranean is a classic Chypre due to the strong citrus top note which dominates the fragrance. Some view it as a blue or aquatic scent, most likely due to its strong lemony freshness, although it doesn't contain any other specific aquatic accords. The weaving in of galbanum adds an intense herbal naturalness, which is almost like musk in that it adds a slightly dark, animalic, quality. The further addition of ylang-ylang and cananga adds a fruity note which rounds out the profile. Menthol makes it cool and refreshing on the skin. Although similar to other Chypres, it's musky and ever so slight darker undertones make it quirkier, similar to the way Floid the Original has a unique quality which some find odd, while others adore. Blue Mediterranean is fresh and clean, and therefore easy to wear, although possibly slightly too assertive for a work setting, and a little too bright for a seductive date night.
